#AdlandCommits: the next steps...
#AdlandCommits: webinar is tomorrow
That session. Karen Blackett OBE and June Sarpong OBE kicked off #AdlandCommits with so many actions. Now, it's time for our second follow up, where you'll gain more 'hows'.
This is a deep-dive for CEO signatories into how to drive change from within. We will discuss dismantling systemic racism at work, what brand partners want and why targets are essential.
Jo-Ann Robertson, CEO of Ketchum PR, our top-rated Equality Standard company, will tell you driving inclusion is a conscious everyday effort. Ketchum PR has also just won 'UK Consultancy of the Year' 2020. Are the two accolades related? We think so.
We are excited to bring you this line up:
Nishma Robb, Head of Marketing, Google
Jo-Ann Robertson, CEO, Ketchum PR
Zaid Al-Qassab, CMO, Channel4
Cindy Augustine, Global Chief Talent Officer, FCB
IPA: why it's time to 'Press Pause'
The conversation we need to have now...
In this Volkswagen ad, a white hand flicks a black man away from a new yellow Volkswagen into a café called 'Petit Colon' - the little colonist. After an outcry, the German carmaker instantly pulled the ad. When did this happen? Third week of May, 2020. The question is: who saw it? Who signed it off? Who didn't blow the whistle? This ad aired.
Xavier Rees, CEO of Havas, talked at #AdlandCommits about an incident with one of his clients, where a creative team was asked to remove a black character from an ad. The chat box went crazy. It turns out, this happens... a lot. As an industry, we have a huge responsibility to drive culture and to cast every member of society and challenge our clients to do the same.
We believe it's time to ignite an industry-wide conversation around what we can do collectively.
Join the webinar - in partnership with the IPA - next Thursday, 23rd July:
Stephanie Matthews, Partnerships Director, Creative Equals

Ete Davies, CEO, Engine Creative

ISBA webinar: Inclusive Restructuring
Is your redundancy process... biased?
As many organisations start to restructure, it's business critical to keep your top talent.
The challenge is, however, bias comes into the process. We also know many groups have been struggling during lockdown and on furlough (see more with our 'Inclusion Pulse' Tracker, in partnership with Campaign), so to create a 'fair selection' process, we have to look the long term view of a person, their skills and the roles we need to future-proof our businesses.
This session will make you think in a whole different way about how to re-organise your business to become future proof.
Join us tomorrow morning with the following speakers:
Shilpen Savani, Employment Lawyer, Gunnercooke
Liz Nottingham, Former HR Director, R/GA
Stephanie Matthews, Partnerships Director, Creative Equals
